Advanced Building Technique
As a cost-effective substitute for a house expansion, this high-quality garden unit is assembled using pre-cut, modular structural insulated panels (SIPs). Numerous modern residences are adopting this method due to SIPs’ excellent insulation properties, energy efficiency, and durability. Unlike many other brands that only provide insulated walls, the Xtend collection incorporates SIP construction for both the ceiling and the floor. This leads to a completely insulated garden building from top to bottom.
The superior level of insulation guarantees a moisture-free home office, ensures coolness in summer, and retains warmth in winter, creating a comfortable environment for remote work throughout all seasons.
Each wall SIP comprises 97mm insulation sandwiched between two OSB (oriented strand board) sheets. The SIPs are encompassed and further insulated by external and internal cladding. The internal cladding is MDF with a stylish vertical beaded profile design, primed and ready for custom painting. The external cladding is top-notch, kiln-dried tongue and groove timber measuring 15mm. In addition to its chic appearance, tongue and groove cladding is renowned for its weather-resistant structure. This complete assembly of SIP, cladding, and cavities results in the walls boasting an impressive overall thickness of 177mm.
Flooring and Roofing
For enhanced insulation, the 108mm floor and 122mm pent-style roof are also constructed from SIPs. The floor is left bare for personalized finishing with carpet, laminate, or other flooring of choice. The inside of the roof is finished with pre-primed interior cladding, primed for painting. Externally, the roof comes with a leading black EPDM weatherproof roof covering, offering an exceptional 50-year lifespan. This rubber roofing material does not split or crack, does not foster moss or algae growth, is UV-stabilized, and requires zero maintenance. The modern finish is completed with anthracite grey facias.
Although Forest does not provide electrical services, the 28mm wall battens and 45mm roof battens are positioned to allow ample space for adding electrical wiring and recessed lighting fixtures. Electrical tasks should always be carried out by a licensed electrician.
