Each wall SIP comprises 97mm insulation nestled between two layers of OSB (oriented strand board). The SIPs are enhanced and further insulated by external and internal cladding. The internal cladding showcases MDF with an elegant vertical beaded design for a refined finish. It comes primed and ready for customization through painting. The external cladding comprises top-notch, kiln-dried 15mm tongue and groove timber, providing not only a stylish appearance but also a weather-resistant structure. The combination of SIP, cladding, and cavities confers a substantial overall wall thickness of 177mm.
Floor and Roof
To elevate the insulation level, the 108mm floor and 122mm pent-style roof are also constructed using SIPs. The floor is left uncovered, allowing for diverse finishing options such as carpet, laminate, or other preferred flooring materials. The interior of the roof is adorned with pre-primed interior cladding, awaiting your personal touch with paint. On the exterior, the roof presents a cutting-edge, black EPDM weatherproof roof covering with an impressive 50-year lifespan. This rubber roofing material resists splitting or cracking, deters moss and algae growth, is UV-stable, and demands zero maintenance. A modern touch is added with anthracite grey fascias to complete the contemporary look.
Forest does not provide electrical services. However, the 28mm wall battens and 45mm roof battens are meticulously designed to accommodate electrical wiring and recess lights, respectively. It is crucial to engage a certified electrician for any electrical work.
Door and Windows
Access to this garden office is via a double-glazed, UPVC door secured by a 7-point multi-lock system to ensure the safety of valuable equipment. Three additional full-length, double-glazed windows flood the interior with natural light. The top section of the side window can be opened for ventilation. This garden office boasts an energy efficiency rating of 78 (category C), with the potential to reach 82 (category B) by incorporating a photovoltaic solar panel. Upon delivery, the outdoor office is untreated and should be treated upon assembly and annually thereafter. Forest Garden advises treating it with recommended products such as Sikkens Cetol HLS Plus, Restol Wood Oil, Timmersol ETS Double Protectant, Osmo Country Colour, or Osmo Natural Oil Wood Stain. The internal cladding comes primed and can be painted in any desired color using standard interior emulsion paint.
